Installation

The material library (KurinStudio/_Core) ships inside every Kurin pack. No scripts, no plugins.

Install

Bought on Steps
Fab Open the pack on Fab (browser, Fab plugin in the editor, or Epic Games Launcher > Library > Fab Library) → Add to Project → pick your project and engine 5.2 or newer
Other stores (Gumroad and others) Close the editor → unzip → copy the KurinStudio folder into your project's Content folder (merge if it exists)

Then:

  1. Open the project: the assets are in the Content Browser under KurinStudio.
  2. Wait for the first shader compile (only once, then the cache is used).
  3. Turn on the project settings below only if you use those features.
Setting Where Needed for
Enable virtual texture support Project Settings > Engine > Rendering > Virtual Textures (restart the editor) Use Virtual Textures? (Virtual Textures), Landscape Blend
Generate Mesh Distance Fields Project Settings > Engine > Rendering Water shore waves (Water)

Then make your first instance: Quick start.

Rules

  • Do not edit, move or rename anything in _Core: updates overwrite it.
  • Keep your instances in your own folder, e.g. Content/MyProject/Materials.
  • Several Kurin packs share one _Core. Overwriting it when adding a pack is expected; keep all packs on the latest version.

Updating

  1. Update all Kurin packs in the project (Fab: add them to the project again; other stores: copy the new KurinStudio folder over the old one).
  2. File > Save All, then restart the editor.
  3. Master shows wrong parameters or errors? Open it, press Apply, then Save.
